Mike & Lisa Maberry

In 2003, native Texans Mike and Lisa Maberry established Rancho Sereno as a facility for breeding reining horses and a bed and breakfast to serve the needs of their horse buying clients. A welcome change from long careers in banking, law and real estate, the Maberry’s moved from the city to the country when they became empty nesters.

In 2017 Lisa took note of the emerging Texoma AVA as she and Mike became friends with the early winemaking families. They were encouraged to add viticulture to the farming operations of Rancho Sereno.

After Lisa earned a degree in viticulture at the T.V. Munson Viticulture/Enology Center, the family planted the first vines in 2021.

The Ranch

Rancho Sereno, located in the Red River Valley has been lovingly tended from the beginning of its horse breeding history to the current chapter of vineyards, pastures and wagyu mommas and babies – and a few pampered performance horses. The terroir now has the spotlight as the French vinifera have been planted.

The grapes are being used to create exciting new blends from rosé to bold reds. The ranch is committed to providing the fruit for our wines that are being hand crafted in the old world traditions of fine wines.

The Essence of Rancho Sereno

Handcrafted
Quality

The attention to detail found in our wines is a process of yesteryear. Old world ways make superior wines. Made one vintage at a time, never rushed and aged to perfection, these wines get special attention from expert winemakers. You can taste the craftsmanship in these wines. You’ll appreciate the care and timelessness in every bottle, and rest assured it’s been family approved before reaching the table.

Ranch
Heritage

Not many vineyards could say they have such an active and lively past as Rancho Sereno. Established as a horse ranch, select horses were trained to compete in prestigious competitions by some of the top trainers in the world. The riders breaking them in and ranch hands taking care of the property – add to Rancho Sereno’s unique story. These fertile lands are where buffalo used to roam and weary travelers would rest at night while nearby Sandy Creek gave life to all – as the ranch established the fruitful soils that became the vineyards of today.

Tranquility

Derived from the meaning in our name, a peace and a calm. With these traits comes stability, class and grace. The idea of tranquility sets a mood and tone for the brand. Fine wines that have a refined taste should be wise and charming. Listen more, and talk less. Our wines can be a light wind through a field, or a good friend listening to a story. There’s a comfort in tranquility. There’s comfort in our wines.

“In the vineyard, the soil tells the story, the winemaker just listens.”
