In 2003, native Texans Mike and Lisa Maberry established Rancho Sereno as a facility for breeding reining horses and a bed and breakfast to serve the needs of their horse buying clients. A welcome change from long careers in banking, law and real estate, the Maberry’s moved from the city to the country when they became empty nesters.
In 2017 Lisa took note of the emerging Texoma AVA as she and Mike became friends with the early winemaking families. They were encouraged to add viticulture to the farming operations of Rancho Sereno.
After Lisa earned a degree in viticulture at the T.V. Munson Viticulture/Enology Center, the family planted the first vines in 2021.
